Somewhere out there, a radio is spinning. And, if you listen closely, you might catch the ghost of Mels Bells. That’s Melanie Register’s on-air alter ego, named after the AC/DC song. She came up in radio—production work, on-air shifts, the whole shebang—but didn't stay behind the mic.
Melanie moved into agency life, where she wore a few hats: traffic coordinator, traditional media buyer, and eventually account management. Eleven years at an agency in Charleston took her across automotive, healthcare, retail, and B2B. While there, she helped create memorable brand experiences, like giant nose mascot costumes and a jingle contest in Music City.
What stayed consistent is the instinct she picked up in radio: making people feel like you're speaking directly to them. As a senior account manager at KPS3, Melanie builds relationships quickly, listens closely, and loves working across departments to create something great. She keeps her team aligned and projects moving forward.
Off the air, not much has changed. Melanie attends a concert at least once a month, feeling most like herself when she’s screaming a chorus as part of a crowd. She brings characters to life on stage with Reno Improv. At home, she’s deep in a Pokémon-and-dinosaurs era with her son. He’s a good reminder to stay present, and she’s soaking it all in.
